Here is another dirty little secret of the window installation trade – estimates aren't worth the paper they are written on. Why? Because most installers use it as a "sales" tool. They "guesstimate" how much they think you are willing to spend on your windows and then they write the estimate to "low-ball" that number in order to convince you to sign the contract.

In other words, an estimate is not a reflection of the actual cost of the job but instead a reflection on what they think you'll pay.

How can they get away with this? Well, a lot of people like to shop for replacement windows near Provo on price alone—never really considering what it is they are ACTUALLY buying. Sure the price looks great on paper, but what are you really getting? The best analogy I can come up with is this:

Assume you have a heart condition and you need surgery to save your life. You get one quote for $50,000 and another for $35,000. Which one do you pick? Well, let me add a few "qualifiers" and see if you would make the same choice.

The first quote comes from Boston Medical whose chief of cardiothoracic surgery is a Harvard School of Medicine Graduate, top of his class, with over 30+ years of experience.

The second quote comes from a local community services hospital whose surgeon is a recent graduate from the St. John's School of medicine who has only just completed his residency.

Which one would you choose now?

Granted, windows aren’t heart surgery. But when you consider the damage that improperly installed windows can do to your home, or what "cheaper" Provo replacement windows can cost you in the long run it's pretty important that you know EXACTLY what your are buying.
